I'm going to wear my birthday suit for my wedding, and my groomsmen are going to match.
Today, Andrea and I were checking back with Tony, the Italian tailor from La Moda D'Italia clothing, located near Temple Square. He is the sweetest 82 year-old Italian tailor we know :). We had gone there this last Saturday after looking at tuxedos and being less than impressed.
I had wanted to go into that shop ever since my mission to Italy. Tony is a great guy and has had the shop for the last 25 years. He and his wife owned that shop as well as a wedding dress shop until she passed. We talked for over an hour, well after closing time, about Italy, missions, his life, working at the temple, etc. He also measured me for a suit and said that if I got a suit instead of a tuxedo, I could wear it on Sundays or on dates with my Sweetheart to the Symphony and things like that.
Today we went back and sealed the deal. We got a nice Australian wool black suit and shirt with some custom tailoring for my sizing needs. Andrea was going to pay for part of it for the down payment for my birthday. It turns out that he typically does all up front when he orders suits, so that ended up being quite the birthday present! Thus, the suit, the nice wool Italian suit, becomes my birthday suit as well as the suit I will be wearing at my wedding reception.

So...do you want Brian to wear his Birthday Suit, too?
ReplyDeleteHmm, depends on what that means.... Jeremy told me a comment Brian made to him about the suit vs tux when he was deciding which way to go. He had said to him that it's not like he's Scottish and has to wear a kilt for the wedding, just because he served in Italy doesn't mean he has to wear an Italian suit. Truth be told Jeremy fell more in love with the Italian tailor than he did the suit which was the deciding factor, but he did need a suit and when we weighed out the cost factor between buying a new tux and suit for work it made more sense to just get a really nice suit that would last him (hopefully) for several years. We were joking that we could have one of the wedding pictures with him and his posse in fedoras and violin cases.
