Halloween in Texas yr 2

I can't believe a year has gone! Last year we put Gwendolyn in a hollowed out pumpkin shell and this year she could sit on one. :) In one year Gwendolyn went from hating the trick or treaters to wanting to join them. One more year little miss.

We started the day by attending a toddler circus themed fall festival in the park. We live in a great city is all I can say. They had several local businesses that attended and were handing out prizes and candy for playing their booth's games, including the fire and police department. Gwendolyn is still too young for the games though she did successfully walk the "high wire," (a wood beam on the ground), and she went on a hayride which was pulled by a tractor. I think she'll enjoy visiting her grandpa and great-grandpa up in Washington, especially if a tractor ride is involved. She kept yelling "Yay!" the whole time. We finally bumped into her Aunt Rachel and cousins Isaac and Corinna after she finished her sugar cookie. She even came home with a clown nose, book and lollipop. All in all a great time even though we didn't see her Auntie till we had to go.

I had promised to take a sister from our ward to Costco so Gwendolyn happily sampled her way through the store after her 3 hour nap, we love those days! She charms the sample ladies and coos and smiles till she gets a sample of whatever they're peddling.

After dinner we all went outside to hand out candy to the trick or treaters. After a half of a dozen kids came and left Gwendolyn decided she wanted what they were getting too so she reached in the bowl, pulled out a tootsie pop, (she's never had one before), and tried to eat it wrapper and all but didn't like the wrapper and couldn't get it off herself. She handed it over to me and the moment the wrapper was off she snatched it back and popped it in her mouth where it remained till it was about gone. She played with glow sticks and "helped" hand out the candy to the kids that came by.

Once the kids stopped coming by as frequently as it was then after 8, it was the bedtime routine, which included a bubble bath so it was extra special for her. We didn't want to put her down and have kids ringing the bell even after the lights were out, which happened last year so we kept her up after her bath, put in the Little Mermaid which arrived via Netflix that day and let her play until she begged to go to bed. Absolutely no fussing to have to go to bed, the end of a perfect day! :)
